Altus Crashpad And Altus TDY Housing Questions.
What Is A Crashpad?
A crash pad is a long-term TDY housing accommodation. Not a hotel, not a short stay. You live in the house with other aircrew while you are at Altus. We have stayed in crashpads ourselves. That is why these were built.
What Is The Difference Between On-Base Lodging And An Altus Crashpad?
An Altus crashpad is off-base TDY lodging in Altus, Oklahoma, for aircrew. OffBase is four houses near Altus AFB, with weekly cleaning and under-three-minute access to the front gate. The stay is the length of the TDY, in a house, rather than on-base lodging. An Altus crash pad is meant to feel like home, with the creature comforts you're used to instead of the hustle and bustle of a big hotel.
How Close Are The Houses To The Altus AFB Front Gate?
Every house is less than three minutes from the front gate. All four OffBase houses sit in the Mesquite Meadows neighborhood, directly across the street from the Altus Air Force Base front gate, and each one was custom built around what aircrew need during a TDY.
How Much Does It Cost?
Nothing out of pocket. Military TDY orders cover the stay. We bill the same price on-base lodging charges, and not a penny more.
Do I Have To Stay On Base?
Due to recent policy changes, TDY Air Force members are required to check in with on-base lodging when they arrive. In order to avoid the on base hotel, you will need an approved Exception to Policy letter or a letter of non-availability (often called a "Non-A" or "CNA") to stay off base. There are several ways to get one, and if you have questions or need help getting yours, feel free to reach out.
Â
*It is vital to obtain the Exception to policy letter before arriving at Altus if you want to stay off base.
Can I Pay With A Government Travel Card?
Yes, of course. This is the preferred method in the Joint Travel Regulations.
Do You Provide Receipts For DTS?
Yes, all receipts are itemized and come with zero dollar balances for easy DTS records and filing.
What Do I Need To Bring?
Yourself, clothes, and basic toiletries. Towels, sheets, and the ordinary paper products are already in the house.
Are Pets Allowed?
Not right now. We have animals of our own, but the house is shared, and not everyone wants a pet in the mix. We hope to offer it later.
Do You Accept Family Reservations?
Singles only for the long stay. Spouses, partners, and children are welcome for a short visit. Long-term family reservations are not something we currently offer..
Why Choose Us?
Just as our slogan says "Built By Aircrew, For Aircrew". The aim was the most comfortable crashpads we could put together. From day one, our number one goal has been simple: to offer the best accommodations a traveling aircrew member could ask for while spending weeks or months in Altus. We know what it's like to live out of a bag on a long TDY, so every house is set up to feel like home, with the space, comfort, and little details that make a long stay easier.
